From Proto-Finnic *kinttu, from the same root as *kinder (whence kinner). Cognate with Ingrian kinttu (“thigh”), Karelian kinttu (“foot, calf, thigh, ham”), Votic kintud (“thighs”), Estonian kint.[1]
