labu
From Malay labu, from Proto-Malayo-Polynesian *labuq₂ (“the bottle gourd: Lagenaria siceraria”); reconstructed by Robert Blust (compare Tboli labuk (“the bottle gourd: Lagenaria siceraria”), Central Dusun hobuʔ (“calabash, type of gourd”)); alternatively, from Sanskrit अलाबु (alābu). Note that the reconstruction by Blust explained the final plosive in Tboli and Dusun that a derivation from Sanskrit cannot explain.
labu (first-person possessive labuku, second-person possessive labumu, third-person possessive labunya)
“labu” in Kamus Besar Bahasa Indonesia, Jakarta: Agency for Language Development and Cultivation — Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic Indonesia, 2016.
