A word inspired by, on one hand, the root lui- referring to sliding things (metathetically related to liukua) as seen in luisu and dialectal luikas, the semantic link between sliding or slipping and sneakiness being apparent, and on the other, by the word luimu- referring to pinned ears, for which variants with -h- have also been recorded; one must also note luikkia (“to sneak away”) and dialectal liuha (“sly”).
