- (slender mongoose): One of the translations Benson (1964) employs is black mongoose, but the species Herpestes flavescens（syn. Galerella flavescens）is found only in Angola and Namibia.[5]
- (weasel): Benson (1964) and Barlow (1975) employ the term weasel and in Kenya, where Kikuyu people live, the following native species belonging to the family Mustelidae are found: African clawless otter (Aonyx capensis), spot-necked otter (Hydrictis maculicollis, syn.
