marien (not comparable)
Common in scientific contexts, such as mariene biologie (marine biology) and marien ecosysteem (marine ecosystem). In everyday expressions, however, this meaning is usually conveyed simply with a compound with the word zee (sea) in front, as in zeebodem (sea floor) and zeedier (marine animal).
Not to be confused with marine (navy).
