mujada f (plural mujades)

1. (historical, Barcelona) A unit of land area defined as the amount that a team of oxen could plow in a day, roughly equivalent to an acre.

     Al segle XVIII —ja una mica ordenat—, a Catalunya solament, i només per a amidar les superfícies, hi havia els sistemes següents: a Barcelona i a la seva zona d'influència (Pla del Llobregat, Vallès i part del Maresme) s'utilitzava la mujada (equivalent a unes 49 àrees d'avui), que es subdividia en quartes i mundines.

     In the 18th century--already a bit tidied up---only in Catalonia, and just for measuring land area, there were the following systems: in Barcelona and its zone of influence (Pla del Llobregat, Vallès and part of Maresme), they used the mujada (equivalent to some 49 modern-day ares), which was subdivided into quarters and sixths.
