Cognate with Latvian îkšķis, îkstis (thumb), Old Prussian instixs (thumb). The form inkštys is attested in the writings of Jonas Bretkūnas, but his mother was a native speaker of Old Prussian, casting doubt on its Lithuanian authenticity.
