Czech
Etymology
From rocháda, from German Rochade (“castling”), from Middle High German roch (“rook”), from Persian رخ (rox, “war elephant”).[1] The original Czech expression rocháda mistakenly acquired French pronunciation with the letter ⟨ch⟩ pronounced as /ʃ/ (especially among non-professional chess players), which later (in the 1950s) lead also to the change of spelling to the letter ⟨š⟩ (rošáda).[1][2][3]
