Borrowed from English Sharon, from Hebrew שָׁרוֹן (šārōn, “the Sharon plain”), referencing Sharon Cuneta, singer of the 1985 song Bituing Walang Ningning (literally, “A Star Without Sparkle”), theme song of the film of the same name where Cuneta also stars in. The meaning of the word was taken from the first words of the lyrics of the chorus of the song which goes like Balutin mo ako ng hiwaga ng iyong pagmamahal , which translates to “Wrap me with the mystery of your love ”.
