From Proto-Albanian *śur-(nā), from Proto-Indo-European *seHur (“to piss, make water”). Cognate to Ancient Greek οὐρέω (ouréō, “to piss”) and Hittite (/sēẖur/, “urine”). The hardening of the inlaut may have expressive reasons.[1] A further connection to Proto-Germanic *sūraz (“sour”) and Lithuanian súras (“salty”) is also possible.
