• Sjukhus is the common word for a hospital in contemporary Swedish. Lasarett, though less common overall, is at least more common for hospitals with a name containing "lasarett." For example,
  • the Ljungby hospital Lasarettet Ljungby is often referred to as a lasarett, and
  • the Göteborg hospital Carlanderska sjukhuset is usually referred to as a sjukhus.
