skylab (plural skylabs)

1. An outer space laboratory.

     Two possibilities come to mind: (1) the use of multi-body spacecraft systems, e.g. space stations or shuttle skylabs employing subsatellites and/or passive balloons. (2) the use of cluster system of several small satellites of different size, geometry and surface material.

1. (Philippines) A motorcycle taxi with extension seats on the sides, configured by placing a wooden beam across the pillion.

Named after the Skylab, although the vehicle's shape is more reminiscent of a satellite (cf. habalhabal, which is claimed to be named after the Hubble Space Telescope as well as a reduplication of habal). Alternatively, by folk etymology, from a contraction of sakay (“hop on”), lab (“love”).
