Noun

smerek m inan

  1. (Orawa, Podhale, Bukovina) spruce (conifer of the genus Picea)
    • 1834, Seweryn Goszczyński, Sobótka:
Pół słońca pała na nieba sklepieniu,
A pół zagasło w polskich puszcz błękicie.
      Czerwcowy wieczór, na smereków cieniu,
Po wzniosłéj Wyżni osuwa się szczycie.
Half of the sun glows in the vault of the sky,
And half of it burned out in the Polish blue skies of the forest.
The June evening, in the shade of the spruce trees,
It sets by the lofy peak of Wyżnia.
