Norwegian Nynorsk
Etymology
Rebracketing of sterk. Same source as Jamtish stærsk. The e-sound before r sounding like æ is very common for most of Norwegian pronounce variations, but the change e->æ itself is particularly very common for Trøndelag dialect.
The sound r in Trøndelag dialect is changing into sj before s, k, t or p. Due to this change, the sound combination rk can be understood and written as sjk or rsk, and vice versa (see e.g. kjersk). [1]
Pronunciation
Adjective
stærsk (definite singular and plural stærske, comparative stærskar, indefinite superlative stærskast)
- (dialectal, Trøndelag) eye dialect spelling of sterk (“strong”).
