From treg (“market”) +‎ -oj (verbative suffix). Calque of Ancient Greek ἀγορεύω (agoreúō, “to talk, to declare”) based on ἀγορά (agorá, “market, place”).^[1]

tregoj (aorist tregova, participle treguar) (transitive)

1. to show, indicate, point at (originally a commercial term)

   Synonyms: zbuloj, dëftej

   I tregoi rrobat ― He showed them the clothes

2. to explain, to orient

   Synonyms: shpjegoj, drejtoj, udhëzoj, kallëzoj, dëftej

   I tregoi adresën e shtëpisë ― He explained his home address

3. to tell, tell about, to tell stories, to recount, to narrate

   Synonyms: kallëzoj, rrëfej

   Tregon shumë bukur ― He tells stories beautifully

4. to confide, to confess, to spill the beans (usually used for uncovering a secret)

   Synonym: kallëzoj

   I tregoi të drejtën ― He told the truth

5. (colloquial) to snitch, to inform on

   Synonyms: kallëzoj, njoftoj, padit, spiunoj

   E tregoi tek i ati ― He snitched to his father

6. to show an ability or characteristic

   Synonyms: paraqes, shfaq

   Tregoi burrëri ― He showed bravery

7. (third person) to testify, to prove, to verify
