Inherited from Old Catalan traure, apparently from a Vulgar Latin *tracĕre (for the sound-changes, compare Latin dīcĕre > Catalan diure), from Latin trahere, from Proto-Indo-European *tragʰ- (“to draw, drag”). First attested in the 16th century.[1]
treure (first-person singular present trec or trac, first-person singular preterite traguí, past participle tret); root stress: (Central, Balearic) /ɛ/; (Valencia) /e/
