tulaj (“alone, in itself, on one's own”, obsolete) + -don (nominal-forming suffix). From -d (nominal-forming suffix) + -n (adverb of manner suffix). The presumed original function of the -d suffix is rich in something, provided with something. Compare Mogyoród (the name of a Hungarian village), from mogyoró (“hazelnut”) + -d, meaning rich in hazelnuts.[1][2]
