Etymology 1

From Proto-Ugric *tüγɜtɜ or *tüwɜtɜ (fire). Compare Western Mansi тавт (tavt), Northern Khanty тўт (tŭt), Eastern Khanty тӱӽәт (tüḥət).[1][2] Replaces Proto-Uralic *tule.
