As a literal phrase, the meaning is quite obvious in such construction as A với chẳng A (literally “A and not A”), but it becomes idiomatic in such construction as A với chẳng B (literally “A and not B”), where B is directly related to A in a way that makes them virtually synonymous. In many cases, với chẳng is shortened back to với, making them synonymous. This shortened với can be used in A với không A to convey the literal meaning.
