Derived from Ottoman Turkish یوزه اورمق (yüze urmak, vurmak, “to throw a thing in the face, to reproach”),^[1] equivalent to compound of yüz (“face”) +‎ -ü (possessive suffix) +‎ -(n)e (dative suffix with "n" as buffer consonant) +‎ vurmak (“to hit, to strike”), literally “to hit in someone's face (with something)”.^[2]
