Romanian

Etymology

Probably from a Vulgar Latin root *imbināre, from *bināre (duplicate) (compare Italian binare, Friulian imbinâ), from Latin bīnī. Alternatively, possibly from a related root*bināti (compare Italian binati (twins), Aromanian binats (twins)); the expected result in Romanian, *binați, may have been interpreted as a verbal adjective and crossed with îngemăna. A variant form înghina also exists, as well as an antonym desghina and variant dezbina, with various other etymologies having been proposed for each.[1]
