According to Boryś, the expected form śleziona with secondary -dź-, perhaps under the influence of the forms słodzona and *słodzina, resulting from association with the root of słodzić(“to sweeten”) and słodki(“sweet”).[1] More likely is the contamination with śledź(“herring”).[2]
