Cognate with Serbo-Croatian пре̏спа, Ukrainian пере́спа (peréspa) and further akin to Polish zaspa (“snowdrift”), wyspa (“island”), Ukrainian за́спа (záspa, “dike”), ви́спа (výspa, “island”), Russian по́спа (póspa, “nozzle”) (dialectal).
