Cognates include 墳 (OC *bɯn, *bɯnʔ, “bulge, mound”), possibly 芃 (OC *boːŋ, *bum, “luxuriant growth”), and, outside of Sinitic, Tibetan སྦོམ་ (sbom, “thick, bulky, fat”).
