Glyph origin

Representing a star in the form of a five-pointed starfish. Older depictions are thicker and have rounded ends, and they sometimes show the center as two concentric circles and give the arms crossbars. In color the glyph reflects the colors of the stars and so can be yellow, gold, red, and, less commonly, blue. The phonogrammatic value of sbꜣ is derived by the rebus principle from its use as a logogram for sbꜣ (star).
