Dear Teodor, Thank you for your really kind words, it's a pleasure to be recognized. I didn't know about these lists of missing audio samples. It might actually be smarter to add the audio samples to all the existing German words in the Norwegian Wiktionary. However, I still hope that there is someone who writes a bot that, similar to the Derbethbot for the German and English Wiktionary, also links audio examples for other Wiktionaries. (LinguaLibre, which links into French, Occitan, and Kurdish Wiktionary, isn't an optimal choice for me for a few reasons.) Do you have a smart idea for such a bot? Kind Regards --Jeuwre (diskusjon) 3. sep. 2023 kl. 23:16 (CEST)Svar
Unfortunately I am not able to write such a bot myself but it would be of great help. Not only in German. I know how to operate a semi bot though, through AWB. So if someone could help me identify how to check which German entries lack either I could possibly fix it.
So far I have been adding the templates myself (and probably some others have done it too). I could check with some people if they know how to guide me setting something up. Otherwise, it would be great if small Wiktionaries could get this kind of help from some of the bigger ones.
I will keep adding a template manually in the meantime. At least that gets it noted which articles lack pronunciation and sound files. - Teodor (db) 5. sep. 2023 kl. 00:31 (CEST)Svar

Your recent emails

Hi Jeuwre, I am sorry i cannot see more than the first few words of your two emails. In my settings here at Wiktionary it says that I only receive mails from other users thorugh web (not email to my mail account). And the tickoff to have them sent by email is greyed out... Just put them on my discussion page, or if you know how I can change my settings please inform me:) - Teodor (db) 7. sep. 2023 kl. 13:20 (CEST)Svar

Adding your audio files, finally found a way

Hi again, I think I have finally found a way to add all your audio files in a semi-manual way. Would it be inconvenient for you to send me all the lemmas where they should go in a plain text file? I.e. only the lemmas themselves, without all that comes after the semicolons. I will then put that file into AWB and add the corresponding sound files manually using the file names that you sent me.

My plan is to add a comment to your pronunciation files that you are a speaker from Berlin. Like i did with wahrscheinlich. I think it adds value to the files to know if the speaker is from Vienna, Bavaria or somewhere else. Please advise me if your accent should say something different from Berlin.

Looking forward to hearing from you:) - Teodor (db) 14. feb. 2024 kl. 22:34 (CET)Svar

Thank you for the list you sent me! I'll make a .txt file of out that one, noe problem... As for the speaker accent i guess it is a matter of preference. Especially when it comes to foreign languages I think it helps to know the accent of the speaker. My German isn't good enough to hear if you sound like a Berliner but I can certainly hear you are not from Bavaria or Switzerland. So unless you think it is plainly wrong to add Berlin I think I'll keep the added text. - Teodor (db) 16. feb. 2024 kl. 10:23 (CET)Svar
Hi Teodor, I completely agree with adding the speaker's origin. Thank you for your support of adding the pronunciation files. Have a nice day --Jeuwre (diskusjon) 16. feb. 2024 kl. 10:48 (CET)Svar
Hi Jeuwre, as you can see I am adding a lot of your pronunciations. I listen to them too so I can learn some more German myself :). Could I ask you a favour? Adding |språk=de instead of lang=de in the IPA section. For some reason the IPA template only accepts språk, not lang. Or, if you are proficient with templates, just add lang and/or sprach as possible parameters. I dont' know how to do that myself... As it is now you get a "language parameter missing" if you use "lang". Another thing, you don't have to delete the items from that list on my discussion page. I get a warning every time you do it, leading to my checking if you wrote me something.
I would also like to hear your opinion on using Audacity to record word samples. I remember you wrote that you preferred that solution. I have been trying out the LinguaLibre RecordWizard and I find I can use that one to easily record a bunch of words in my desired category and upload them very quickly. However, the recording sounds a bit metallic when I use my Røde microphone. I bought one after I saw you use Røde NT-USB and your recordings sound very studiolike and professional. Any advice? best regards, - Teodor (db) 30. mar. 2024 kl. 13:10 (CET)Svar
Dear Teodor, Sure, I will set the parameter 'språk=de' in future. And I won't also delete the words on the list on your discussion page in future.
There were little things with LinguaLibre that bothered me (for example, it wasn't possible to do fade in/fade out, which I do with the Swiss Army knife for manipulating audios 'Sox', but that should work now). I have a working workflow for a lot of recordings in a certain time (up to 10,000 per month), which I don't like giving up. But if you prefer LinguaLibre, it's okay.
I can only guess why it sounds metallic to you. The first question: when? After recording (also with Audacity?), after uploading? This way you can narrow down the error. If it happens with recording the first thing I would try is a different computer with a different sound card (or a different sound chip); any really old computer will do for recording (with Audacity). I dampen the nearest walls around my desk to reduce the reverberation. You could also use a sound absorber similar to this: https://www.thomann.de/de/fun_generation_micscreen_black.htm?gad_source=5&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI9pj_35SdhQMVKJaDBx2NOw4HEAQYAiABEgI73_D_BwE.
Hope I could help you. Happy Easter --Jeuwre (diskusjon) 31. mar. 2024 kl. 01:06 (CET)Svar
Thank you:) The metallic sound comes right away and also when I use it for Teams meetings with my colleagues. I have used it on two different computers and the result is the same. But I haven't tried it with Audacity yet, nor have I tried with a sound absorber. I bought the microphone second hand so of course it could also be the case that the microphone is damaged. Will look into this one of these days:) - Teodor (db) 31. mar. 2024 kl. 22:57 (CEST)Svar
