• This determiner has only one form: it does not inflect for gender or number, and it is always indefinite.

1. Less, less often, with less intensity, to a lesser extent.

• In Modern Hebrew, when פחות modifies a definite adjective, the ה־ (ha-, “”) attaches to it, rather than to the adjective itself.
• פחות is typically used in concert with the preposition מ־ (mi-, “from”) (with a simple noun or pronoun) or the conjunction מאשר (me'ashér, “from what”) (with an infinitive, prepositional phrase, or clause). These serve the same role in Hebrew that than serves in English.

   פחות מהם באו היום מאשר אתמול. ― Pakhót meihém bá'u hayóm masher etmól. ― Fewer of them came today than had come yesterday.

• This determiner has only one form, and when other parts of a sentence agree with it in gender and/or number, they take the gender and/or number of its implicit subject.
