Persian

Etymology

Borrowed from Hindustani کھڑکی / खिड़की (khiṛkī), possibly via Mughal Persian, itself from Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀔𑀟𑀓𑁆𑀓𑀻 (khaḍakkī), 𑀔𑀟𑀓𑁆𑀓𑀺𑀆 (khaḍakkiā), ultimately from Sanskrit खटक्किका (khaṭakkikā).

Unlikely to have been transmitted via Pashto کړکۍ (kaṛkay), due to major vowel changes in Pashto that did not occur in Dari.
