උත‍්තරති (root tar, first conjugation)

1. Sinhala script form of uttarati (“to cross over”)
   • 2006, The Fourth Book in the Suttanta-Pitaka: Majjhimanikāya (I)‎, page 336:

     යන‍්නූනාහං තිණකට‍්ඨසාඛාපලාසං සඞ‍්කඩ‍්ඪිත්‍වා කුල‍්ලං බන්‍ධිත්‍වා තං කුල‍්ලං නිස‍්සාය හත්‍ථෙහි ච පාදෙහි ච වායමමානො සොත්‍ථිනා පාරං උත‍්තරෙය්‍යන‍්ති.”

     Yannūnāhaṃ tiṇakaṭṭhasākhāpalāsaṃ saṅkaḍḍhitvā kullaṃ bandhitvā taṃ kullaṃ nissāya hatthehi ca pādehi ca vāyamamāno sotthinā pāraṃ uttareyyanti."

     ‘Why don’t I gather grass, sticks, branches, and leaves and make a raft? Riding on the raft, and paddling with my hands and feet, I can safely reach the far shore.’
