- Forms plural or collective forms of nouns and plural forms of inanimate demonstrative pronouns.
Usage notes
Certain nouns, such as those referring to animals, never take this plural suffix. For a few other nouns, the suffix is accepted by some speakers but not by others. When used with numerals, nouns show no morphological plural marking. Use with inanimate demonstrative pronouns and nouns is optional.
When a noun marked with this suffix is marked as possessed, the suffix may indicate either plurality of the noun or plurality of the possessor.
