Compound of . (“symbol for inhalation”) + jo (“yes; acknowledgement”). Introduced in 2009 by the Swedish linguistics magazine Språktidningen as a suggestion for spelling the North Swedish dialectal interjection /ɕʉː↓/ using conventional means, based on a method from conversation analysis.[1]
