RFD discussion: April 2023–August 2024

The following information has failed Wiktionary's deletion process (permalink).

It should not be re-entered without careful consideration.

The last two discussions about this category (BP, RFC) led to the deletion of a few subcategories and little else. Its purpose is unclear and it is not consistently being populated. Is it actually needed for any language? Ultimateria (talk) 01:05, 17 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

I think the major issue is that people are hesitant to re-categorise languages they're not familiar with. I can't think of any language that would have a need for this category, even though I have added it in the past. Thadh (talk) 15:58, 17 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Ultimateria, Thadh: FWIW, it appears that Classical Nahuatl and Swahili add entries to their respective noun plural forms categories through accelerated entry generation for non-lemma forms (see Module:accel/nci and Module:accel/sw). There may well be others. 0DF (talk) 01:22, 8 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
Delete as things stand. There's no use mostly manually categorizing a handful of entries into such categories. If we want to start subcategorizing non-lemma forms, we should do so generally and by having the headword- or definition- line templates categorize. - -sche (discuss) 16:23, 28 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
