@Polomo47, what are the pre-1920 spellings your edit refers to? I've never heard of a Portuguese spelling reform in 1920. Davi6596 (talk) 03:30, 2 May 2025 (UTC)Reply
- Hehe, you can only imagine my pleasure in spreading this knowledge. Yes, this reform is almost undocumented anywhere. @MedK1, whom I just reestablished contact with, seemed to have thought its records were lost media — we'd tried looking for it a few months ago, but found nothing. But no: a week or so ago, I found this document, which describes the reform. I promptly freaked out about it with Sérgio Santos on my talk page, and got ideas of writing a Wikipedia article, which I mentioned to RodRabelo on his.
- I had always been confused by how, in spite of the FO1911 saying to use grave accents in, e.g., seqùência, descriptions of the 1945 agreement always said it removed the trema. What trema? The one introduced in 1920. Polomo47 (talk) 03:39, 2 May 2025 (UTC)Reply
- Based on this misconception, I had previously refactored pages like seqùência and seqüência; automáticamente and automàticamente, which I can now finally categorize accurately. This also solves the mystery of traïdor. Polomo47 (talk) 03:42, 2 May 2025 (UTC)Reply
- Spectacular! I wonder if we'll be able to find the 1986 failed reform text too. Davi6596 (talk) 16:05, 3 May 2025 (UTC)Reply
