Etymology

Named after the character Captain Nemo in Jules Verne's 1870 novel Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Seas. The novel was a childhood favorite of Croatian survey engineer Hrvoje Lukatela, who first discovered Point Nemo in 1992.
