Etymology
Composed of a cognate of Latin decus (“ornament”), decet (“to look like, to befit”) + a cognate of Sanskrit बल (bala, “strength, power”) and of Old Church Slavonic бол҄ии (bolʹii, “great”). Possibly a loanword, since the k sound would have evolved into a sibilant in a proper Daco-Moesian language.[1]
