In ancient Basque, this was a productive causative prefix, placed immediately before the root. Modern verbs including the suffix include eragin (to cause) and erantzi (to undress), from the same roots as egin (to do) and jantzi (to dress). This prefix is no longer productive, modern Basque uses -arazi as a causative suffix. This suffix is most likely the *-ra- causative of an unknown verb.
