Proto-Celtic

Etymology

From Proto-Indo-European *h₃reyH-, but the source of the geminate -nn- is obscure.[1] The easiest way to account for it is to presume that *-nós was suffixed to the present plural stem of a nasal present *h₃ri-né-H-ti.[2]
