Etymology

Most likely related to Proto-Georgian-Zan *q̇ua- (“handle of an axe (?)”).

Reconstruction

Čuxua in his earlier work reconstructs Proto-Kartvelian *q̇aw-in-, also deriving Svan ყაბუ̂ (q̇abû, “tip”) from the same root. The relation of the Svan word is denied in his later works where he reconstructs Proto-Georgian-Zan *q̇win-.
