Cognate with Igbo mmiri, Proto-Edoid *A-mɪN and Proto-Edoid descendant languages, (Edo amẹ, Yekhee àmɛ̀), Akpes íɲí, Àhàn oɲĩ, Proto-Ukaan *ùmɔ̃̀, Proto-Nupoid *e-ɲi (Proto-Ebiroid), Proto-Ukaan *ùmɔ̃̀, Proto-Idomoid *ì-mànyì.
