Why is there transliteration info in the entry at all? Shouldn't all of the various systems be discussed at WT:AUK and not in each entry? - -sche (discuss) 05:33, 1 October 2012 (UTC)Reply
- I thinka User:Mzajac was just having fun with his favourite topics - Canada, Ukraine and горілка (horílka) (i.e. Ukrainian vodka) :). The standard translit + IPA (currently missing) would be quite sufficient. --Anatoli (обсудить/вклад) 05:49, 1 October 2012 (UTC)Reply
- I was having fun with romanization, as discussed in Wiktionary:Beer_parlour/2008/August#Romanization_example. I can envision several situations where the standard transliteration is not sufficient: as a reference by a writer whose style guide requires British Standard romanization, by someone using bibliographic information in ALA–LC romanazation, or as a search target to look up a term found in romanized form.
- As a comprehensive reference it might behoove Wiktionary to show various romanizations. —Michael Z. 2013-11-17 01:27 z
