@Tashi, @Vininn126 Meanings 1 and 3 have "Cieszyn Silesia" next to them. Wouldn't that mean though that they (talking mostly about the 3rd one, as the 1st one is also used in Warsaw) belong to Silesian instead? Max19582 (talk) 16:29, 7 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

I searched for "Cieszyn Silesia" and that actually seems to be the case for a lot of other words. I'm pretty sure words like "kóniczek" or "stróm" belong to Silesian and not Polish. Max19582 (talk) 16:33, 7 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

What would be the difference between Silesian and Silesian Polish? Wiktionary:About_Silesian says the L2 refers to the Slavic language spoken in Poland (ślōnskŏ gŏdka) (as opposed to Silesian German) and wikipedia:Cieszyn_Silesian_dialect lists the Cieszyn Silesian dialect as a dialect of Silesian. To be honest, I'm not a fan of having Silesian language as a separate language. There's been a debate whether it should be classified as a separate language and many Polish linguists refuses the idea. Tashi (talk) 16:42, 7 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

It doesn't really matter if one considers it to be a separate language or not, as we should stay consistent with Wiktionary's consensus. Putting Silesian definitions (or words) under Polish causes some unnecessary mess and confusion, and personally, I think we could do some clean-up and possibly remove Silesian definitions that are under Polish headers. Yes, it would make sense for it to be moved since English Wiktionary treats Silesian as languag separate from Polish (unlike Polish Wiktionary which treats it as a dialectal Polish). KamiruPL (talk) 09:13, 12 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

Am I supposed to move both Upper Silesian Polish and Cieszyn Silesian Polish entries or just the latter? Should I only split the the entries with multiple dialectal and non-dialectal meanings into separate languages or standalone dialectal Silesian Polish lemmas as well? What if the spelling of the Silesian lemma differs from standard Polish? Should the Polish entry be deleted? I don't think I'm authorised for entry deletion. @KamiruPL Words that exist in both Silesian Polish and Silesian Proper should exist in both (the former having the proper tag, the latter having its own L2). If it does not exist in Silesian Polish, it can safely be moved to Silesian and removed from Polish. If it only exists in Silesian Polish (do such terms exist), then there should be no Silesian L2. As far as spelling, that's a tricky question. If the spelling is different, go ahead and add the lemma with the Silesian spelling. As far as deletion, we may have to start a beer parlor discussion.
