Hi Folks!

The definition had previously read: "The members of one's household; especially one's parents and immediate family", and I changed it to "one's immediate family, especially one's parents", seeing as the example given, "my folks visit us at Christmas" specifically refers to parents who are not a part of the household.

Usage in social justice lingo

Phrases like "black folks", "queer folks", "trans folks", "LGBTQ folks" etc appear to occur not infrequently even in regions where "folks" is otherwise unusual as a synonym for "people", such as Britain. I am not sure how to note this phenomenon on the entry. — Mnemosientje (t · c) 13:01, 11 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
