Talk:meet
There are different semantic meanings behind "to meet" which may have different synonyms or different translations into various languages. Would anybody care to comment?
- To meet by arrangemet
- Let's meet at the station at 9 o'clock.
- To meet by accident
- Guess who I met at the supermarket today?
- Fancy meeting you here!
- To converge
- The two roads meet at an intersection.
- To satisfy
- This proposal meets my requirements.
Originally I was only thinking about #1 and #2 but Babelfish translates "meet" into Spanish "satisfacer" (#4) whereas I always use "encontrar". Interestingly, whenever I use "encontrar" it sounds funny to me because it also means "find" which makes me wonder if there's a better Spanish word for meeting by arrangement... — Hippietrail 00:43, 29 Sep 2004 (UTC)

Rfv-sense: (Ireland) To French kiss someone.
This was added by The Ice Mage in 2009, failed RFV in 2010, then was re-added by the same user in 2012. Urban Dictionary has it as a Dublin-area slang term, so it probably exists in some manner of speaking. This, that and the other (talk) 06:40, 23 November 2020 (UTC)
