Interjection
Do we need an interjection? Surely the first sense is adjectival (i.e. of poor quality) and the second one is nominal (lies, falsehoods). Mglovesfun (talk) 17:35, 5 January 2012 (UTC)
Rubbish primarily means waste material, and every other meaning of the word is just derived from that. Rubbish has exactly the same meaning as the American word garbage. So, I don't know why the wiktionary article on garbage isn't just copied here to bulk up this article so that it's a bit less of a load of rubbish!

Etymology
The etymology section of the entry previously contained the following: "presumably ultimately from Proto-Germanic *raub- (“to break”) (whence rob, via meaning “plunder, destroy”)".
