Issue with square brackets

Hi, @ShakespeareFan00, what is the problem caused by square brackets that needs fixing? — SGconlaw (talk) 14:05, 17 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

@ShakespeareFan00: one issue with your edit is that it doesn't work with Module:quote which unitalicizes occurrences of square brackets in titles ("A Bridge Too Far " instead of "A Bridge Too Far "). Could you please temporarily stop implementing it until a solution has been worked out by @Benwing2 and @Erutuon or others? Thanks. — SGconlaw (talk) 14:14, 17 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

Well the obvious response, is certainly, and I'll consider undoing the attempted good faith repairs. I left a note on the talk page for {{nb...}} as to what the actual problem possibly is. namely that putting the span inside the title= parameter of another SPAN doesn't actually work. In the attempted repairs to that template and to {{sqbrace}} I'd escaped the brackets characters completely.

Naturally fixing Module:quote would be an excellent long-term soloution, but this problem has existed for over 2 years with no sign of a fix being implemented. ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 14:56, 17 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

@ShakespeareFan00: when was the problem first raised? This is the first I'm hearing about it. — SGconlaw (talk) 16:49, 17 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

Please provide a SPECFIC example of where something that was supposed to be (de)italicized wasn't. ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 17:24, 17 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
