This template is frequently misused for missing grammatical information like this. However, {{cog}} is also misused to mention terms in another language in etymology sections, even when they are not cognates to the headword. So can we update the documentation to make up for?

{{gloss}} with quotation marks, which would make its usage much less appropriate in these cases instantly. as for {{cog}}, we also have {{noncog}} (and {{m+}}), which have better template names (in that they do *not* imply cognacy; otherwise, "non-cognate" is actually rather strange). meh. —Suzukaze-c◇◇ 16:04, 25 November 2019 (UTC)
