@Erutuon This template supposedly replaces {{ja-readascat}}
and {{ja-readingcat}}
. Unlike the former, this template does not provide the proper parent categories, and unlike the latter, this template does not provide the proper parent categories and does not indicate the reading type. Furthmore, it does not provide a sort code in either case, using simply the kanji for the sort code. How would one browse Category:Japanese terms by their individual characters then? Which brings me to my next point, it indiscriminately categorises both types of "read as" categories under the aforementioned parent category, which is only intended for "spelled with" categories. Furthermore, this template does not replace {{charactercat}}
, as NadandoBot has been doing alongside the former two templates, because it does not provide the radical sort code for the kanji. It outputs a redlink from improperly linked text, but that's the least of the problems with this template. To demonstrate the intricacy, Category:Japanese terms spelled with 花 uses a radical sort code for its parent category, and a kana sort code for its child categories, whose two other parent categories use no sort code and a kana sort code respectively for listing their child categories, and the first other parent category uses a kana sort code for itself, and the second other parent category uses a reading-type sort code for itself, although that last one isn't important. {{ja-readings-cat}}
provides to the Japanese kanji reading categories? I made the module generate categories based on the structure on this page, which was created by @Suzukaze-c and perhaps other editors who were commenting in the discussion at Wiktionary:Grease pit/2017/May#Formatting for individual Japanese readings (@Krun, TAKASUGI Shinji, Wyang).{{charactercat}}
, because {{ja-readings-cat}}
is not intended to create "terms spelled with x" categories. It creates "with reading x", "read as x", "with x reading y" or "by x reading" categories. — Eru·tuon 01:50, 11 July 2017 (UTC){{ja-readascat}}
and {{ja-readingcat}}
created different categories containing "spelled with kanji read as". I am not sure if those categories are still added after the recent changes to the module code behind {{ja-readings}}
. — Eru·tuon 01:55, 11 July 2017 (UTC)
{{ja-readings-cat}}
and {{ja-readascat}}
and {{ja-readingcat}}
add, I was wrong to write that {{ja-readings-cat}}
replaces the other two templates. It is used in different categories. — Eru·tuon 02:04, 11 July 2017 (UTC)
