Hi Pierre,
Thanks for your contributions to the appendix of animal terms. You've provided a lot of words that I was unaware of. Are you a zoologist?
I plan to modify some of what you have added as follows, based on my own research (from the Oxford English Dictionary, second edition):
I'd be interested to hear if you have any feedback on these points. Paul G 09:56, 31 Dec 2004 (UTC)
Hello Pierre, could you have a look at tomber where I have added a conjugation table (via a template). The template is based on similar Italian ones and is new this week. Let me know if it is OK. I am not a French expert. SemperBlotto 14:18, 8 Feb 2005 (UTC)
Hello again Pierre. Yesterday I went to my local library and copied down the conjugations for -er, -ir and -re verbs, intending to check the -er template and clone two others. I see that you have beaten me to it! I have corrected the compound gerund and added finir and vendre to check them out. Cheers SemperBlotto 16:46, 10 Feb 2005 (UTC)
Bonjour encore. Pierre - just go for it! My French is not good enough - I'll continue with English and some Italian. SemperBlotto 08:13, 16 Mar 2005 (UTC)
Hello! I think that <input type="hidden" name="num" value="50"> should be inserted to http://en.wiktionary.orghttps://dictious.com/en/MediaWiki:Googlesearch so that 50 search matches could be displayed at one time. Greetings --Dubaduba 20:26, 26 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Hi,
We are currently having a dispute here about whether Grye and Methodology are my sockpuppets or not. I noticed that you are an administrator of Wikipedia as well, and I understand that there is a tool on Wikipedia for administrators to check the true IP addresses of users. Would it be possible at all for you to do this for our Wikipedia accounts? If you did, I would be very much in your debt.
Sincerely,

Please give your opinion on the changes proposed here under the heading Hebrew Romanization. Thank you for your feedback. -216.187.106.148
Hello! As one of your fellow admin at English Wiktionary, I would like to kindly ask if you would like to keep or give up your adminship at Wiktionary while you have not made any edits or admin's actions since April 2005.--Jusjih 23:07, 14 June 2006 (UTC)
Welcome back, after quite some time, I see. Please update your information here and let us know if you'd like to continue being an administrator for us. Also, if you haven't been watching, a lot has changed in the last year and a half. I encourage you to do a bit of looking around and reacquaint yourself with current conventions and with the community. — Dvortygirl 21:22, 4 October 2006 (UTC)
I wanted to point out that when an entry contains nothing of substance, the two courses of action should be deletion or revision, not blanking. Blanking leaves the term deceptively blue, so it is less likely someone will try and add it, so even if a page should have a page, and is created with bogus content, go ahead and delete it or give it a proper start when you spot it. - TheDaveRoss 01:07, 9 October 2006 (UTC)
"I found one where you have to know both languages to fix it (put and mettre are both irregular verbs)."
Hello, as a newly returned user who apparently has some skill with Greek/Ancient Greek, I'm glad to have you onboard.....again. A few minor things that I thought I'd toss your way. First, I changed the etymology on πτώμα. Secondly, I removed the Ancient Greek "eye of potato" per your suggestion and replied on the talk page. Thirdly, I would very much appreciate it if you have time to take a look at Wiktionary:About Ancient Greek (a work in progress, which I hope to polish off and get voted in as official policy within the reasonably near future) and see if you have anything to add. Thanks. Atelaes 08:10, 2 April 2007 (UTC)
I wonder how long before someone (else) notices? SemperBlotto 21:54, 11 May 2007 (UTC)

{{es-noun}}
Hi Pierre. There have been a couple of attempts to delete {{es-noun}}
in favor of newer templates that are in much wider use now. I've renewed the request to delete it, but I saw that you've been using it lately so I wanted to leave you a note.
The templates are listed at Wiktionary:About Spanish#Advanced templates, but I'll list them here too:
{{es-noun-m}}
for masculine countable nouns{{es-noun-f}}
for feminine countable nouns{{es-noun-mf}}
for countable nouns which have forms of both genders{{es-noun-m-unc}}
for masculine uncountable nouns{{es-noun-f-unc}}
for feminine uncountable nounsThe benefit of these templates is that in the vast majority of cases, they can be called without parameters, as opposed to the slightly esoteric parameter list used by {{es-noun}}
. The templates used most often are {{es-noun-m}}
and {{es-noun-f}}
, which only need a parameter (pl
) if the plural can't be formed by simply adding "s" (i.e. if the noun ends in a consonant or the accent is dropped in the plural). A parameter is also needed for {{es-noun-mf}}
if the masculine and feminine forms are not identical (e.g. presidente and presidenta). Mike Dillon 18:26, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
I got the example from . --Ptcamn 02:53, 24 November 2007 (UTC)
These seem to have been added mistakenly by a bot (aka Wonderfool) - they should probably just be deleted. SemperBlotto 11:14, 10 July 2008 (UTC)
Please go through the history on the page to see that:
1) lisakachold is adding cites and entries that conform to wiktionary standards. 2) lisakachold is removing cites that do not conform or are redundant and commenting on the discussion page related to and before edits. 3) others are removing or immediately reverting those edits even if they conform . 4) others are chastising lisakachold for editing her own edits and threatening that this is wrong. There is no proof of the version and the change, in a nutshell attributing lisakachold own edits to others and saying her cleanup of a talk/discussion page is bannable behavior.
Please diligently and carefully look at the history, like the administrators have been called to do. The page will be nominated for deletion since a scientology agenda exists to remove all but scientology references, which is not supported by the musical entries, gaming entries, literature entries as common use which the "users" continue to whittle away at in repeated edit wars.
They have removed the etylogy that includes "disease" repeatedly that was accepted by you and other editors at rfv in October.
Repeatedly they edit the citations page back to Scientology only sense, removing durable sources for well documented senses from two or more users at once, then lock the page supposedly for an "edit war" when there is no "see Citations". Rfv sense tags and rfc with accompanying pages are removed by new editors who also edited the talk page to remove the explanation without a complete new browser cache check to see that these had been edited.
So, there is a watch, when the user community changes something, they jump on, begin edits without noting the talk page, or providing editor discussion, which is censorship, where their changes do not meet the wiktionary test of rules, are too numerous to document and clearly have an agenda outside of what the page would look like within the rules.
New Administrators are not even clearly and completely stating on the Discussion page why their edits are done; history is vague as to why the changes are made, and don't completely conform to the whole slicing up of the page content that essentially restores it to Scientology even adding extensive vague and obtuse cites.
Adding requests to Administrators talk pages for assistance, Leftmost (very new admin) blocked one of our group for "spamming".
PLEASE ADVISE on what to do with this situation?
Hello :)
I only joined Wiki today so I'm not sure this is the correct way to reply to a message but anyways so far as I know the font is called 'New Athena' and can be downloaded here: http://apagreekkeys.org/fonts/NAU3_502.zip Hopefully that should work but if it doesn't let me know and I'll ask someone more knowledgable than myself. I do not want to come across as contumelious but please consider casting your vote for the tile logo as—besides using English—the book logo has a clear directionality of horizontal left-to-right, starkly contrasting with Arabic and Chinese, two of the six official UN languages. As such, the tile logo is the only translingual choice left and it was also elected in m:Wiktionary/logo/archive-vote-4. Warmest Regards, :)--thecurran Speak your mind my past 02:08, 2 January 2010 (UTC)

I urge you to vote. (I don't know which way you'll vote, but I want more voices, especially English Wiktionarians' voices, heard in this vote.) If you've voted already, or stated that you won't, and I missed it, I apologize.—msh210℠ 17:00, 21 May 2010 (UTC)
The community needs you badly. I have found the place in a mess. Eg. periodic vandalism. Or can you make me sysop on this wiki? Thanks! OpenTheWindows 08:32, 13 June 2010 (UTC)

Hello! I'm glad to see somebody else here who's interested in Tok Pisin. Almost all of our quotations in Tok Pisin were added by me with {{tpi-cite-bible}}
, which always produces a link to a (modern English version) of the exact verse on Wikisource. That said, I won't stop you if you want to add back-translations. If you're interested, I have a list of Tok Pisin-related stuff to do, including my long-term project of including here every word used in the Papua New Guinea Bible Society's official translation of the Bible (which represents the most complete corpus for that sublect of the language). Thanks! --Μετάknowledgediscuss/deeds 15:40, 8 September 2012 (UTC)
Why are there Hindi-script words in this wiki? Are Hindi words allowed on en-wt? Ex. कुक्षि, कक्षा, etcetera. Harshrathod50 (talk) 06:47, 22 May 2018 (UTC)
In the Rapa Nui language orthography, the saltillo ⟨ꞌ⟩ is used. It looks identical to an apostrophe ⟨'⟩, but is different in unicode. I'm trying to rename some pages to reflect proper spelling, but when I try to, I'm told:
This action has been automatically identified as harmful, and therefore disallowed. If you believe your action was constructive, please inform an administrator of what you were trying to do. A brief description of the abuse rule which your action matched is: Pagemove throttle for new users

Hi!
You get this message because you are an admin on a Wikimedia wiki.
When someone edits a Wikimedia wiki without being logged in today, we show their IP address. As you may already know, we will not be able to do this in the future. This is a decision by the Wikimedia Foundation Legal department, because norms and regulations for privacy online have changed.
Instead of the IP we will show a masked identity. You as an admin will still be able to access the IP. There will also be a new user right for those who need to see the full IPs of unregistered users to fight vandalism, harassment and spam without being admins. Patrollers will also see part of the IP even without this user right. We are also working on better tools to help.
If you have not seen it before, you can read more on Meta. If you want to make sure you don’t miss technical changes on the Wikimedia wikis, you can subscribe to the weekly technical newsletter.
We have two suggested ways this identity could work. We would appreciate your feedback on which way you think would work best for you and your wiki, now and in the future. You can let us know on the talk page. You can write in your language. The suggestions were posted in October and we will decide after 17 January.
Thank you. /Johan (WMF)

hi, i have a question on what we can do when someone deletes our edition. the deletion was unjust. this is the page in question dios. in wikipedia there are many ways for disputes and controversies of editors but i dont see anything here Mvtqui (talk) 22:37, 19 October 2022 (UTC)
Hello, Pierre. I noticed the Swadesh list article was rather misleading, pro-Russian I’d say. Ukrainian and Russian list don’t match reality, language contemporary state. And Swadesh list isn’t a silly toy, is it? It’s supposed to be a scholar tool. Any correction I made was rejected. Lists basically reflect what a pan-slavist want to see: that languages are too close to one another to count them as two separate ones. Also, there’s a serbo-croatian column, as if it’s one tongue. Although, by GenSlavAtlas they differ. Any chance for help? 2A00:1FA0:4300:17C2:7D61:546:34B0:BC34 16:54, 17 December 2023 (UTC)
