1. marital right (any right that a marriage brings to the spouses regarding the other spouse or their property)

• Marital rights differ a lot by jurisdiction. As an example, in Finland this right is chiefly realized in a divorce, in which the property of the divorcing couple is distributed in equal shares to each spouse. This right may be limited by a prenuptial agreement.
