Brokastis

Etymology

Borrowed from Middle Low German vrōkost (cf. Swedish frukost “breakfast,” and also the German older term Frühkost “breakfast,” literally “early food”). The initial cluster was changed from vr to br to conform to Latvian patterns; the final ost changed to ast perhaps under the influence of words like mielasts (feast).[1]
